The Facebook

Love it or hate it, Facebook (and its ever-growing empire of apps and functions) is the top dog of social media. What began as a novel way for college students to meet has turned into its own industry.
What is it?
I doubt anyone really needs an explanation of what Facebook is. Usually, it's that people don't realize what it's become and how it can benefit their brand. Facebook is THE multigenerational tool for connecting. People of all ages and backgrounds spend time on Facebook. Former classmates reconnecting, friends sharing joyous wedding/baby news, or people from all over the world exchanging recipes, ideas, or silly memes Facebook is also the place for people to connect with businesses/organizations.
Why should you care?
Because it's one of the simplest ways to reach a large audience, more and more of which have become savvy social media users. Long gone are the days of Facebook (or any social media platform) being "just for kids." Yes, even TikTok!
Facebook launched in 2004. So the college kids who latched onto it then are now in their late 30s/early 40s. Since then an entire generation has come of age with the internet and social media being the norm. Not to mention all the Gen Xers and elder Millennials teaching their Boomer parents all about "the Facebook."
But you can just post about your business from your Facebook page, right?
Yes and no. You need a Facebook Business page. There are several differences between personal pages and business pages. And trying to run a business account from a personal page can make your business seem, well, not very legitimate. You're also missing out on a ton of benefits that make it easy to showcase your products/services and for customers to engage with you.
Facebook Business pages feature tabs that can let your page almost function as a mini-website. In fact, it's not uncommon for some small businesses and entrepreneurs to only have social media pages. Typical Facebook page tabs include About, Services, Photos, Video, and Posts. But you can also include Reviews, Events, even Job Listings tabs to let people easily navigate specific posts or sections.
The people who Like or Follow your business page will see the posts and activity of that business page in their newsfeed. They can engage with your posts by Liking, Commenting, and Sharing. This can help you get even more Followers. You can also add a link to your Facebook page to your website/blog, business cards, flyers/promotional materials, in-store display signage, etc. So it's simply more professional to direct people to a proper business page versus a personal page.
If you're already an active Facebook user you should certainly share information about your business/organization. But instead of doing it solely on your personal page, you can instead share your business page's posts directly on your personal page. You can also Invite your Friends to Like and Follow your business page. With a business page, you can tag individual personal accounts of employees, partners, volunteers, donors, clients/customers, etc. to shine a light on the people who help make your business/organization the awesome place that it is.
How much is it?
Free! Yep, Facebook business pages are free to create and maintain.
So what do you need me for?
You may not, and that's okay! Some business owners simply don't have the time or know-how to properly set up a business page. And they certainly don't have the time to think of and consistently post content that will resonate with their followers, help them grow an audience, and ultimately sell more products/services. So I offer simple solutions to help.
If you need a Facebook business page or content strategy, let's talk.
